Horses
In this project I have learnt that horses communicate by making a low pitched sound called a 'nicker'
Christ the King's Trip to Ambury Farm
Strange Visitors
“This is Mr Big! Don’t worry, he’s friendly.” A familiar voice said. “Something makes my belly grumble… Sniff! Sniff! Ah food, lovely food!” As soon as I saw a familiar tall lady holding a big, white bucket, I knew I was correct! So I climbed the fence and saw tiny, yellow looking creatures all lined up. They stared at me. I didn’t really care! I just wanted to get my treat! Once the tall lady gave them some of my snacks they didn’t move! It felt like 1,000 000 goat years until the yellow creatures finally start to walk closer and closer, slower and slower. I know they are holding EXTRA delicious snacks! Finally a yellow creature gives me some yummy snacks. I hope I will get more! After a few goat minutes, I see the tall lady walk away from my lovely part of the farm. “But why??” I thought. Then all the friendly creatures were trailing behind her around the corner and then disappeared. I make loud noises just to get them back and feed me again but they ignored! I wasn’t alone anyway! I’ve got my 2 small and wooly goat friends with me, Basil and Skippy.

Nunuku's Law
Nunuku’s Law of Peace
In Rekohu, there were many fights that caused injuries and death. Nunuku was one of the chiefs of Rekohu. He was fed up with all the violence so he decided to make a law to stop all the fighting. When Nunuku told the other chiefs, they all agreed to end all the fighting. People kept the law. If two people started a fight, they were not allowed to draw blood or else that would be breaking the law.
They valued peace for a very long time. To show they valued peace, they wore white albatross’ feathers to show that peace was so important in their lives.
Later on invaders came to Rekohu. The tribes were Ngati Tama and Ngati Mutunga. When they came, the Morioris didn’t know what to do. They gathered together and decided that they would not fight. The invasion was fierce. Ngati Mutunga and Ngati Tama killed many of the Morioris but some were taken as slaves. Some Morioris were left on the island and were proud of what the other Morioris did because the Morioris who died stood up for peace.
The descendants are very proud and today they show memorials in the Marae for those who died because of the 2 tribes. In the Marae there is a long, wooden pole that has names of the people that died in the invasion.
The Treaty of Waitangi:
The Treaty of Waitangi was an agreement between the British Crown and the Maoris. They also wanted their identity and their culture recognised. In 1870, a native court award was 58 516 hectares which is 97.3 % of the land of Rekohu but sadly, the Morioris only got 2.7 % of their land or 1640 hectares. 1988 was the year when they wanted their fishing rights and land back and they also wanted their identity and culture to be recognised. A good thing was that in 2004, the Morioris won back their fishing rights.

Flitterwig Book Review
Flitterwig
The book ‘Flitterwig’ is about a little 10 year old flitterwig that saves the kingdom of Magus. This young flitterwig is Ella. The main part of the book is that Ella has to find the 5 Sacred Dewdrops which would unfreeze the mirrors of foreverness(leads to Magus). Along her journey she meets pixies, elves and goblins. When she meets Dixon the rhyming and unbalanced pixie, everything changes in a way that is full of enchantment. Ever since the mirrors froze, all the magicals were stuck on earth. The pollution on earth could kill the magicals. Later on she meets her goblin protector,Charlie Snoppit. Together they find the 5 sacred dewdrops.
My favourite character in Flitterwig was the main character, Ella. Ella is my favourite because she is honest, kind, caring, obedient and because she has courage . She has wild, scruffy hair that grows very fast. Her feet are unusually big! She has eyes that are full loneliness but she still has a sense of humour inside her. Even though there was so many hardships in her life, she still kept on going and finished her mission of finding the dewdrops of Magus. She wears a white, cotton t-shirt, long jeans and a pair of dirty converse shoes. She is a descendent of pure elves but she looks completely human.(except for her big feet) Ella is a flitterwig, that’s why it’s so easy to do things with her feet like skateboarding.
I recommend this book to people aged 9+ who like reading about magic and fantasy. I would also recommend this book to people who like to read books that continue just like the ‘Harry Potter’ series.

Heat Transfer
Heat Transfer
How is heat transferred? Heat is transferred by convection, conduction and radiation. These are the 3 ways of heat transfer. In the progress of these heat transfers, molecules heat up and move around to one place to another.
Convection is a heat transfer through fluids like gas and liquids. In the atmosphere, hot air rise up on convection currents and this creates clouds and winds. Convection also takes place when heated molecules are moving from place to place, bringing heat with them. This is common to the atmosphere and the oceans.
Conduction is another type of heat transfer through direct contact. When 1 molecule is heated, it moves and shakes rapidly. When it does that it passes on some heat to another molecule which is around it. Molecules keep on passing the heat until all of them are heated up. This is the process of conduction. Some substances are not strong heat conductors like wood.
Radiation is the 3rd type of heat transfer. Radiation is a heat transfer through electromagnetic substances. Hot substances’ radiation is more intense than colder substances. Radiation leaves a substance in a form of a wave. Very hot substances have a shorter wave length. There are some substances that are good radiators like the sun and the earth. They are excellent radiators.
Heat is very important to us because it helps us get warmer and also prevents us from getting cold. Heat is important because we wouldn’t be able to cook our food.

Anti-Sheepdog-The new specie
Anti-Sheepdogs
Anti-sheepdogs are a new species. They are only found in grassy fields and hills near farms. Anti-Sheepdogs graze on grass and for a treat they eat crops, from farmer’s fields. Anti-sheepdogs live in herds. When predators attack, Anti-Sheepdogs stay with each other. They have a nose that can sense when a predator is coming. Their special features are their huge, curved horns, their long skinny legs and their brilliant nose sensitive to any scent. Their long legs help them to run fast especially when predators come. They aren’t carnivores meaning they don’t eat meat. Instead they are herbivores. Some brave Anti-Sheepdogs think they can defeat the predator and they begin to push it’s predator with it’s huge horns. Even though Anti-Sheepdogs can be cheeky, they can also be very respectful to their own specie. The male try to get a mate by fighting each other. They weigh 155.5 kg.

Beauty and the Beast
Have you ever gone to a theater to watch a live show? Christ the King has! We watched Sancta Maria College’s Beauty and the Beast Production at Manukau Vodafone Centre. We went on Friday the 9th of May. The Production started at 12 P.M. Sancta Maria students acted as the characters in Disney’s Beauty and the Beast. The main characters in the play were Belle, The Beast, Lumiere (candle), Babette (duster), Cogsworth (clock), Maurice, Mrs Potts, Chip, Wardrobe and Gaston.
In the story of Beauty and the beast, there was a selfish and mean prince who didn’t treat people nicely. One day there was a witch who came to his dark and gloomy palace and begged him for something. Every time she begged he refused and told her to go away. The witch became furious and put a curse on him.The witch gave him a rose and told him before the last rose petal falls, he has to find the love of his life and she has to return that love so that the curse would be broken. This curse made him become a mean beast. All his housemaids and helpers became talking teapots, candles, clocks, wardrobes, cups and other things. In a little town there is a beautiful girl named Belle. She is a caring and a nice person. She is the one that will break the curse that the witch had put on the beast. When Belle enters the gloomy palace to find her father, the beast falls in love with her but to break the curse, Belle has to return the love back to him.
I thought that the production was excellent but the only thing I didn’t like was the romance. I like how the actors acted their part very well and how they made it so real. The actors were very convincing and I really like the singing parts of the production. The scenes were beautiful! I really like the gloomy palace scene but they should have tried to make Belle’s room more like a royal bedroom. They also should have made the scene more like a dinner place where Belle and the beast could eat dinner. Other than these things everything else was perfect! I rate the production 5 star!
I recommend this production to young and old who really like fairy-tales and who really like watching live theatre. I would also recommend this to people who love watching Disney’s version of fairy tales!
