Pollination

Image result for beesPollinationImage result for bees
Humans usually think bees are dangerous because of their sting but bees have a part in our lives. Bees pollinate our plants so that plants can reproduce. Pollination is the process of which the pollen from the male part of the flower (stamen) transfers to the pistil (female part) and when it has transferred to the pistil, the plant is being fertilised. Bees are professionals at pollinating plants especially because they have been pollinating plants all of their lives.

When a bee lands on a flower, the hairs on the bee’s body lure the pollen through electrostatic power. Many people may think that bees live in the beehive but that isn’t true.  The honey that are produced by bees are stored in the beehive. Some bees dig nests in soil and some live in tree hollows. The bees need more nectar and pollen because the growing season is when many bees are being born. If there are no flowers in bloom yet, bees will have no food and they will die because they depend on nectar and pollen.

My Business Card

Digital Learning

The Importance of Digital Learning?

Digital learning is important because you can retrieve any information you find online. This is important because people won’t need to fight over books to get some information of the topic they’re working on.

You can get creative when you are publishing your work. For example, if you are working on a project you can easily find photos and add shapes to type your words. You can also change your font to make your work have a different style.

Your work can be done anywhere, any place and anytime with digital devices such as the chromebook. It doesn’t matter if the place doesn’t have wifi because you always work offline.

Digital learning helps you work at your pace. So you don’t need to rush you work to catch up to everybody else. Working at your pace helps your work look tidier and makes it look like it would be marked on a high standard especially because you put all your effort into it.

Learning digitally means working collaborativelly as a group. You can do that by sharing your work to each other through your e-mail and Google Docs.

Evaluating my learning

What did I learn in digital learning?
I learnt how to use different applications to make my published work more interesting and creative. I also learnt how to post things in my blog and how to comment on people’s blogs.

Who helped me in my learning?
I was either helped by a buddy or a teacher. If I didn’t know what to do on a particular application, my teacher would come and help me. Sometimes I don’t understand the strategy that we have to use at math and that’s when a buddy would come and help me, explaining the strategy step by step and making sure I understand. At other times, I would share my work to some of my classmates to check it. The teacher would tell us if we could post our work on our blog .

How is that going to help you?
Applications, such as ‘Toondoo’ helps me in my learning because it helps me learn how to summarise my story into 4 parts. Chromebooks helps me in my learning because the applications that we use on the chromebook help like ‘skoolbo’. Skoolbo is an educational site that helps you learn your grammar, strategies, vocabulary, sentence construction, spelling and tenses.

What am I pleased with?
I am pleased with my blog because last year, I was able to post 74 of my published work. I am also pleased about my mindmeister brainstorm because I was able to think of lots of ideas on a topic.

What did I enjoy?
I enjoyed using Animoto, Toondoo, Mindmeister etc. because they all helped me learn how to summarise my thoughts. Stupeflix was also really fun because we got to look for photos from one of our book reviews. I liked choosing the song, effects and photos that would match the book review. Stupeflix makes my book review (Chinese Cinderella) like a movie trailer. I also enjoyed using my chromebook. The thing about the chromebook I liked was learning how to use Google Docs and Google Drawing.
