Pollination

Humans usually think bees are dangerous because of their sting but bees have a part in our lives. Bees pollinate our plants so that plants can reproduce. Pollination is the process of which the pollen from the male part of the flower (stamen) transfers to the pistil (female part) and when it has transferred to the pistil, the plant is being fertilised. Bees are professionals at pollinating plants especially because they have been pollinating plants all of their lives.

When a bee lands on a flower, the hairs on the bee’s body lure the pollen through electrostatic power. Many people may think that bees live in the beehive but that isn’t true.  The honey that are produced by bees are stored in the beehive. Some bees dig nests in soil and some live in tree hollows. The bees need more nectar and pollen because the growing season is when many bees are being born. If there are no flowers in bloom yet, bees will have no food and they will die because they depend on nectar and pollen.
