The symbol of remembrance, hope and new life
The red poppy reminds us about the blood from the soldiers that fought in World War 1. Flanders is the field they fought and where the soldiers died. Soldiers threw bombs to kill their enemies. Underground there were seeds of the red poppies. As bombs crashed down to the ground it awakened the sleeping poppies.Seeds stirred and then the beautiful red poppies bloomed up in the same place where the soldiers fell and died. Poppies were seen by a man named Colonel John McCrae. He visited Flanders field and probably thinking that he would find destruction. In his surprise, he found hope and new life instead of death and destruction.
