“Yeah!” I hear a boy shout as he is in mid air. He has just jumped off a bridge, quite far from the water. There is another boy getting ready to jump off too! I’m pretty sure they are friends. While my eyes widen I say to myself “Oh no! what if the water is too shallow? what if he’ll drown!” my heart is beating really fast, hot sweat is running down my face and down to my neck.
The boy that is in the air is very confident about what he is doing. He is wearing blue shorts that aren’t water-proof. He is tanned maybe from always playing out in the sun. The other boy is wearing black shorts and is tanned just like his friend. He is gazing at the water maybe thinking about how deep the water might be or maybe trying to get a glimpse of what might be hiding beneath the water. I turn my head to look at the water. It is calm and is reflecting the bridge just like a glass mirror. The water is greyish-blueish colour and it is opaque. Near by there is a jetty that looks very narrow from where I am. It is brown and it has little poles to keep it standing above the water. In the distance I can see a boat sailing towards the jetty. The air carries the faint salty smell of the water. The sounds of the cars interrupt the sound of the flowing water and the relaxing smell. The cars that are on the road are mostly vans but they aren’t bustling.
While I stare at the cars I wonder about cars and drivers in other countries. Over-speeding worries me because the driver could get a car accident but I’m happy that some countries rarely have car accidents, drunk driving and over-speeding.
