Mythical Lost City Discovered in Honduras

Mythical Lost City Discovered in Honduras

In 1928 a man named Charles Lindbergh reported seeing a metropolis while he flew over Central America. Another man named W.D Strong claimed to have found the ‘lost city’. He then created an expedition about it.

When Theodore Monde found the lost city, he brought back ancient artifacts from the city which he called ‘City of the Monkey God’. He found this city in ruins in a jungle in Honduras. But he died before he located the exact place where the Lost City was.

Bill Benenson and Steve Elkins overcame this because they formed a group of different experts to help out in the discovery. The group included archeologists from the U.S. and Honduras, an anthropologist, a LiDAR engineer and even British soldiers that were taught jungle survival skills.

Some of the things that the group found were 52 artifacts that were buried underground. The head of the group, Chris Fisher found a statue that was believed to be a head of a were-jaguar.

Oscar Neil Cruz was an archeologist from the Honduran Institute of Anthropology and History. They made a rough estimation that the artifacts were from the year A.D 1000 to 1400. What they found led them to find a city that wasn’t isolated but there was a whole place filled with different cities. Long before there used to be a whole civilization living in the White City. Scientists still do not know who the ancient people were.
The place where they discovered the ancient city is kept secret because scientists are afraid that when the city is known to everyone, looters would come and destroy the very precious artifacts that belonged to the ancient people. Scientists are afraid of this because these artifacts have not been disturbed for over a century and they want it to be that way. The scientists are also afraid of Cattle Ranchers because deforestation could be caused by them especially because they are within 12 miles of the ancient city.
