Matilda
The book “Matilda” is written by Roald Dahl and it is about a little girl named Matilda. Her parents and her brother despise her in every way. Her parents were too busy for her but they had so much time for her brother. She was born clever and by the age of 3 she could read chapter books for both children and adults. When she was 5, she had finished all the children’s book in the children’s section. While Matilda was at school she made friends with a girl named Lavender. Matilda’s teacher was Miss Honey. Miss Honey said that Matilda was the smartest in the class and insisted on bringing her to a higher class. Her school’s principal was named Miss Trunchbull, she was mean and very plump. Miss Trunchbull would throw children like a ball if they were naughty but sometimes she would place them in the Chokey. The Chokey has spikes on the doors and belts so that you are tied to the place and you can’t move. Matilda was not an ordinary person. She had powers. She could move things by using her eyes and concentrating on the object. Matilda’s parents wanted to move but Miss Honey really wanted Matilda to stay so Miss Honey adopted Matilda.
My favourite character in this book was Matilda. I like her because she is very smart and she has amazing powers that no human has. She is an extraordinary child especially because she could read at the age of 3. Though she is a child that isn’t cared for or loved, she didn’t give up and she didn’t complain about it.
I recommend this book to children that like to read about a main character having powers and a character that is so smart. The ages I would recommend this book is to 9 and above. I think they will enjoy this book.
