Why are the events of Gallipoli important today?
The events at Gallipoli are important today because when World War 1 happened, Australia became a federal commonwealth. The war was a significant event that happened to Australia. Australia thought that going to Gallipoli would give them respect from the other nations. The events are also remembered because they encouraged many people, young and old, male or female. It has been a symbol for Australia.
The ANZAC’s dressed by wearing a hat on their heads, hat badge, ankle boots, puttees on each leg, a collar badge, a belt, a tunic, puggarees, socks that are made out of cotton, woolen singlets and breeches. Their uniform is called Fatigue.
They mostly ate canned food. For example, they ate Bully Beef (in a can), jam, cocoa, bread and Hard Tack. Hard Tack was also known as ANZAC Wafer and ANZAC Tile and it lasted longer than bread.
